Vintage Delizza & Elster for Alexis Kirk Book Piece Rhinestone Necklace
About the Item
Blackened Metal with huge, faceted blue, black and purple prong set rhinestones with smaller round prong set faux-amethyst collar necklace with box clasp. Marked "Alexis Kirk." Measures: 7 1/4 inches long by 6 3/8 inches wide. Center; 3 inches long. Condition: Very good; some minor surface wear. Made for Alexis Kirk by Delizza & Elster. An identical necklace is shown on pg. 42 of "Juliana Jewelry the Last Generation," by Paula Knutson & Karla Wacker. Dates to 1977.
Delizza and Elster was an American costume jewelry maker that operated from 1947 to 1990. The jewelry sold under their own name was never signed, though they also produced jewelry for other famous makers including Hattie Carnegie, Alexis Kirk, Weiss, Hobe and Kramer. They are known for their glitzy rhinestone jewelry which was worn in operas.
