Les Bernard 1980s Pendant Necklace in Gold & White with Rhinestone Accent
About the Item
Presented is an amazing statement necklace by fashion jewelry company Les Bernard. They made jewelry for several designers and were always a high end company. Most notably, Les Bernard jewelry was used in the tv series Dynasty in the 1980s often adorning Joan Collins, Diahann Carroll and Linda Evans in their Nolan Miller designed outfits. This necklace is comprise of gold tone rope links, white resin beads and a large pendant. The pendant has a white resin large cabochon and white resin rope twists set into a rhinestone gold metal mounting. Suspended from it is a pear shape white resin drop accented with pave' rhinestones and small red cabochons. The large pendant measures 2.13 inches wide, 1 inch deep and 4.75 inches long from the top gold ring to the bottom. The chain of the necklace measures 24 inches not including the pendant. On the back is an oval signature plaque inscribed with Les Bernard Inc. Very very fine condition with very light wear. Small area on the back and bottom of the pear mounting of gold loss. Can not be seen from front or side.
Founded in 1963 by Bernard Shapiro, son of Harold Shapiro of Vogue jewelry, and Lester Joy, thus the name “Les Bernard". Lester Joy was a designer and Bernard Shapiro may have also done some of the designs. Les Bernard was extremely inventive, combining materials and design styles previously unheard of in jewelry manufacturing. The company produced jewelry for Mary McFadden, James Galanos, the Dynasty Collection for the TV show and Ugo Correani. The company closed in 1996.
