PONTIEL Egyptian Revival Blue Glass Scarab Sterling Silver Ring
About the Item
This Scarab ring is made from molded glass that is expertly crafted to resemble lapis lazuli. The glass was made in the 1950s in Japan.
The Egyptian Revival style became popularized in Japan in response to the discovery of King Tut's Tomb in 1922. Scarabs were sacred in ancient Egypt and symbolized rebirth and transformation. Japanese glass scarabs are distinguishable from other country's glass scarabs due to the unique manufacturing technique they used of raising the design of the scarab rather than carving into the glass. This raised look creates a bold yet elegant statement on this ring.
The glass stone is 16 x 10mm. The sterling silver band is 3mm.
PONTIEL Jewelry is designed from unique crystal and glass, dating from the Art Deco to Modernist eras, and originating from Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, and Japan. I hope you enjoy these timeless creations.
