Who is the father of interior design?
1 Answer
The father of interior design is considered by many people to be Sir Edwin Lutyens. During the early 20th century, the British architect and designer became known for his work designing luxurious interiors for homes in the English countryside. Others argue that interior design has a mother, too, in Elsie de Wolfe. Historians often credit de Wolfe with establishing interior design as a profession in its own right due to her work for high-profile clients like the Duke and Duchess of Windsor and Henry Clay Frick and Adelaide Howard Childs.
