Tufts Davis
Wilton Riding Club Horse Event

Circa 1978

About the Item

An award winning artist for her watercolors, Davis was a beloved Connecticut artist. A rare subject done in a contemporary and fresh way. She was a member of this club and enjoyed the horse events and sought to capture the young female riders. Great to hold a large spot in a room. Watercolor is a versatile and expressive medium that has played a significant role in the history of art. Though its origins can be traced back to ancient times, it is the revival of the medium in America, especially at the hands of Jamie and Andrew Wyeth, that Davis draws her inspiration. Through her skillful use of watercolor techniques, she brings the beauty and energy of equestrian sport to life. Framed: 31 1/2 x 38 1/2 inches - the inside measurement of the artwork is 22 x 29 inches. In a lovely decorative gold frame and archival matting.
