A lively and detailed mid-1940's vintage boardwalk scene of Santa Cruz, California by California artist Cassard (20th Century), 1944. This figurative watercolor depicts a snapshot of a fun-loving boardwalk crowd, engaged in all sorts of activities from strolling and chatting, to eating ice cream, to buying salt water taffy and more. The Giant Dipper, Santa Cruz's iconic and historical wooden roller coaster, is shown in the background. And an advertising board for the "Bob Wills and his Texas Playboys" band. Signed and dated "Cassard 44" lower right. Displayed in a giltwood frame with linen liner and plexiglass. Image size: 14"H x 23.25"W.
