Signed lower left, 'Firschein' for William Firschein (American, born 1930) and painted circa 1965. Titled, verso, "Four Hills" and with Exhibition 'Award of Merit' noted. William Firschein exhibited widely and with success throughout the 1950s and 60s including at the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts 10th Southwestern Exhibition of Prints and Drawings (1960). In 1968, he was awarded a McDowell Fellowship that enabled him to live for a year in the New Hampshire countryside where he worked and painted in the Cheney Studio. William Firschein was represented by Ankrum Gallery in Los Angeles and the his archives are held in the repository of New York's Guggenheim Museum. The artist's work is held in public and private collections including the permanent collection of the Dallas Museum of Art.

It is build on the original site of the Abbey of Montmartre built in the 12th century. Circa 1975. Signed lower left . In very good original to excellent condition. Framed in one inch wide mahogany frame. Overall measurements 20 by 23.5 inches. Urbain Huchet was born in Rennes on April 28, 1930. After studying law and owning a textile factory for four years, he decided in 1960 to devote himself entirely to painting. Mr. Huchet spent his first three years as an artist in Pont-Aven, following in the footsteps of Gauguin and Emile Bernard, both of whom influenced him a great deal. He does many paintings of the landscape and the typical people this region. His love of the Brittany coast and the sea can always be seen in his work. After moving to Paris in 1963, his love of adventure and travel led him to spend time painting and writing in Europe, the Middle East, and South America, where he produced many paintings of the Indian markets and the great scenery. He made 14 trips of more than 4 months each, from Mexico to Brazil via Peru, Central America and the Caribbean Islands. The artwork is in its original gold leaf over wood frame. Circa 1950. Under glass. The scene is mostly likely the Cape Cod coast where Hare painted. Overall framed measurements are 16 by 20 inches. Provenance: Massachusetts estate. New England painter John Cuthbert Hare was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1908 and studied commercial art at the Pratt Institute in New York City and later at the Art Students League also in New York City. He also studied at the Grand Central School of Art in New York followed by employment with the Hearst Newspaper Corporation. For a number of years after his marriage in 1933, Hare and his wife traveled throughout the United States and Europe. Born in Queens, Long Island, NY, Impressionist landscape and seascape painter Francis Dixon studied at the Art Students League in New York City under Impressionists Frank Vincent DuMond, Cape Cod, Massachusetts artist, Charles W. Hawthorne, and modernist Robert Henri. Having a good singing voice Dixon was an Army and Navy Song Leader for the War Department during World War I. From 1915 to 1917 was living and painting in Los Angeles, Carmel and Point Lobos, California. Dixon exhibited his California paintings at Folson Galleries New York City in 1917. Dixon continued to travel and paint, visiting Bermuda in 1923 and 1925, and Europe in the mid-1920s. In the 1930s he was living on West 55th Street in Manhattan with a number of other artists. He was a member of the Allied Artists of America (NY); Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts; and the Salmagundi Club, NY. He exhibited at The Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.
