Ahn Hyun-Ju
Born in Seoul, Ahn Hyun-Ju has lived and worked in Germany for over twenty years. Her work bears the mark of her training in both painting and sculpture. Her abstract paintings, influenced by 1960s and 1970s American minimalism, refute any metaphorical language and all narrative intentions. Their composition is characterised by the contrast between simple and minimalist geometric shapes with deep, intense colours. Ahn Hyun-Ju has been featured five times in the collective exhibition “Die Grosse” at the Kunstpalast Museum in Düsseldorf and in the collective exhibition “Colore non solo”, presented at the 51st Venice Biennale in 2005 and at the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna in 2006. “How difficult is it to see a thing as a thing itself and recognize the beauty of the being itself? A thing without being a medium of meanings and metaphors which are based in our convention?”

- Untitled Pink 2 - Textural Abstract Minimalist Artwork on CanvasLocated in Los Angeles, CAPainting for Togolese artist Olympio is fearlessly following an instinct. Olympio’s work is honest and palpable: exposed, raw, and direct. His work is an unfiltered manifestation of his soul. Bright, energetic marks encircle rough textures balanced by the peaceful compositions emanating from below the surface. This 20-inch high by 24-inch wide mixed media painting is signed by Olympio on the back of the canvas. The many layers in his work further emphasize the texture and visceral nature of his canvases. The painting is wired and ready to hang. Free local Los Angeles delivery. Affordable U.S. and global shipping available. A Certificate of Authenticity issued by Artplex Gallery is included. For the abstract artist Olympio, art is a dance of textures and colors, woven from an eclectic medley of canvas and textiles. Each stroke on his canvas is a nod to the classical ideals of modern abstraction, a harmonious blend of purpose and spontaneity. The linens and canvases he selects have borne witness to various conditions and interactions, embracing the imprints of their past experiences. Olympio meticulously stretches, glues, and layers these diverse fabrics together, infusing them with additional layers of acrylic paint, a fusion of careful craft and serendipitous revelation. In Olympio's art, deliberate strokes mingle with accidental splashes, forming a mesmerizing canvas that speaks to the ethos of modernism's evolution. It's a reminder that the legends of yesteryears now manifest as a distinct style, a testament to their enduring influence. His mastery over the medium amplifies, imbuing each piece with a romantic essence carefully counterbalanced by his practiced modesty. The strokes, swirling and turbulent, are immersed in a rich, opulent application of paint, akin to an expansive honeysuckle-pink landscape or a brooding soot-gray abyss. Yet within this whirlwind of impressions, Olympio maintains a sense of purpose, an elusive process that surrenders control to the animated paint and sculptural fabrics. Olympio possesses a rare duality, orchestrating the delicate balance between sensuality and subtlety within his creations. Navigating these opposing forces, he transcends distractions and attains the perfect pitch, crafting a visual symphony that resonates deeply. Olympio was born into a large family of eight children in Lomé, Togo, West Africa. He began his creating art by using building scraps to make sculptures. By the time he was in high school, he started to experiment with mixed-media and collage. He later transitioned to acrylic and oil on canvas. In 2001, Olympio left his home in Africa to live in Paris. Olympio moved to the United States in 2003 and has continued to paint. His work has been exhibited at Art Basel Miami, where in 2018 he was ranked one of the Top 10 Artists by Red Dot Miami. He was also recently interviewed for France 2, TV5Monde, and the BBC. His work has been exhibited and collected internationally. - Wiggle Room 6 - Acrylic Multicolor Modern Minimalist Resin ArtworkBy Ricky HuntLocated in Los Angeles, CARicky Hunt’s mixed media minimalist wall art is influenced by his tumultuous past that led to a paradigm shift in creativity and life. He covers the wood panel with layers of acrylic paint, removing some layers in the process to reveal the underlying evolution of color. His works evoke the many layers of his life. The top layer is covered with shiny resin, adding a smooth reflective finish to the intriguing depth of his minimalist works. The harmony of the overall composition results in a cohesive visual statement. Hidden within the layers are limitless points of interest, constantly revealing new intricacies for us to discover. His works have been exhibited at galleries and art fairs internationally, including in Los Angeles, New York, Zurich, Hong Kong, and London. This one-of-a-kind artwork is 12 inches high by 12 inches wide. It is wired and ready to hang. The front is covered with resin while the sides are painted in a separate process without the application of resin. The application of a lustrous resin unifies this visual paradox, elevating it to a harmonious synthesis. It does not require framing. It is signed by the artist on the back of the artwork. It can be installed vertically as well as horizontally. Convenient local Los Angeles delivery. Affordable Continental U.S. and international shipping are available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included. Hunt's works reflect how he brought order into the chaos of his earlier existence. Philosophy, mathematics, scientific theory, poetry, and astronomy are a few of the themes that run through his paintings and he expresses them with unique imagery. Hunt describes his contemporary imagery as, “Chaotic order pouring from the watery depths of my unconscious”. He divides his artworks into segments enveloped in a singular, intense hue. Drawing inspiration from the symbolic dualism found in the works of Kandinsky, this painting harmonizes opposing colors with a tactile finesse. The artist employs a process akin to a subtractive technique, scratching away layers to expose the latent chromatic narrative beneath. Ricky Hunt lives and paints in Los Angeles. Hunt began to teach himself to draw in 1995. Nine months later Tiger Woods’ father Earl, commissioned a pastel portrait that he described as “The best portrait of Tiger ever painted”. From this foundation grounded in traditional drawing skills, Hunt's work transformed into his contemporary painting approach seen today. He found inspiration in artists such as Basquiat, Haring, and Rothko. Ricky Hunt's success started with his first sold-out exhibition at Artspace Warehouse in Los Angeles in 2016 which led to an international collector base and exhibitions worldwide. Notable private collectors include Kelly Clarkson, Graeme Hart, Sonia Livingstone, and Charles Harder.
