Keith Haring
Keith Haring began experimenting with his bold, graphic lines and cartoon-inspired figures on the walls of New York City subway stations in the early 1980s. He called them his “laboratory,” places to develop a radical new aesthetic based on an ideology of creating truly democratic public art.
Haring’s paintings, prints and murals address the universal themes of death, love and sex, as well as contemporary issues he experienced personally, like the crack-cocaine and AIDS epidemics. They derive much of their impact from the powerful contrast between these serious subjects and the joyful, vibrant pictographic language he uses to express them, full of dancing figures, babies, barking dogs, hearts and rhythmic lines, as well as references to pop culture.
To make his art even more accessible, in 1986, Haring opened the Pop Shop in Soho. In a foreshadowing of today’s intermingling of art and fashion, the shop sold merchandise and novelty items featuring imagery by Haring and contemporaries like Kenny Scharf and Jean-Michel Basquiat. While his works sometimes included text, for the most part, he chose to communicate through drawing.
“Drawing is still basically the same as it has been since prehistoric times,” Haring once declared. “It lives through magic.”

- Yoshitomo Nara - Miss Forest Snow Globe / Dome, 2023By Yoshitomo NaraLocated in Central, HKYoshitomo Nara Miss Forest Snow Globe / Dome, 2023 Resin and glass 4 1/10 × 2 2/5 in | 10.5 × 6.2 cm Yoshitomo Nara’s deceptively simple paintings, sculptures, and drawings draw on the pop culture aesthetics of manga, Walt Disney cartoons, and punk rock. The artist populates his work with alternately adorable and sinister child characters, who run amok in flat backgrounds rendered with simple bold lines and solid hues. Nara explores imagination and the individual, and his more complex canvases consider the intersection of figure and ground. Nara received his MFA from Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Music and has exhibited in Tokyo, New York, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, and beyond. His work belongs to the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Rubell Collection, the Museum of Modern Art, the Long Museum, the Aomori Museum of Art, and many other collections. - protect me from what I want - Contemporary Relief WallpieceLocated in Wien, WienVeronika Suschnig protect me from what I want, 2021 "Drugtales" Series Lacquer, synthetic resin on blister, metal, wood, imitation leather, wire 100 x 70 cm Unique Healing and the traces of wounds are repeated themes in Veronika Suschnig's work, which encourages more attention in juxtaposition and togetherness. This is evident not only in the "Soft Skills" series, but also in the "Pain Poems" and "Pain Patterns" — notes glued into rose thorns — or in the "Drugtales", set pieces of text fragments drawn on empty tablet cases. “Turn soft and lovely anytime you have the chance”, as Jenny Holzer says. The three-dimensional and expansive thinking that is essential in all of Suschnig's work series also emerged from her preoccupation with architecture. Born in 1989 in Korneuburg near Vienna, Veronika Suschnig not only studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with Daniel Richter, but also completed a degree in architecture. Currently, after a brief apprenticeship with Heimo Zobernig...Category
