About the Item

French-born sculptor, Pascal Pierme is inspired by his surroundings. For the last 20 years, those surroundings have been Santa Fe, New Mexico. A lover of the outdoors, his work is directly influenced by the magical landscapes of his Southwestern home. Pierme’s pieces reflect a dialogue and love of his desert city that involves simplicity, nature, architecture and organic elements. “Coming here 20 years ago with expectations that I had to let go very early, I understood the humility and respect I owe to this land, an essential capital of the West.” From an early age, his grandfather’s garage studio inspired him to push the boundaries of his innovative mind and creative endeavors. Gaining notoriety in Europe as a promising young sculptor, Pierme had many solo exhibitions and showed alongside creative giants, including Pierre Cardin. Originally from St. Rafael, France, Pierme decided to move to New Mexico and settle in Santa Fe in 1997. Acknowledging his foreign status in America, he saw this as an advantage; seeing the surrounding landscape and culture with fresh eyes and incorporating these discoveries into his process. Uncovering peace and inspiration in his surroundings, Pierme opened a new chapter in his career as a sculptor. His evolved process and risk-taking has turned heads both nationally and internationally. Critics, curators, collectors and artists alike revere his ongoing bodies of work.

  • Chochin White
    By Morgan Robinson
    Located in Tulsa, OK
Chochin by Morgan Robinson is a white contemporary abstract sculpture design made wenge and stacked laminated baltic birch and measures 18 x 28 and is priced at $5600 An artist from Stillwater, Oklahoma working primarily with wood and metal. I received my BFA in sculpture from the University of Central Oklahoma where I had the freedom to experiment with furniture as art. After finishing my bachelor’s degree, I went and worked as a custom cabinet maker for 5 years. The cabinetry helped refine wood working skills and techniques. I then took advantage of an opportunity to further my skills traveling to Japan and learning traditional methods of wood working used for centuries. Upon returning back to my home town here in Stillwater, I have set up my woodworking studio and am focusing on merging eastern philosophies of minimalism and sculptural form into a functional beautiful artistic statement to add to the quality of our daily lives. Morgan Robinson says he was always intrigued with the reflections he saw in the school bus windows as a child. “I wasn’t as interested in what was outside the window as I was in the images the sunlight was creating on the window,” Robinson said. That interest never waned. Indeed, it grew into a passion that would lead Robinson to Mexico and Japan seeking new ways to turn the images in his mind into the creations he would eventually show in art galleries in other countries and at home. Studio Artist Beginnings As a college student at the University of Central Oklahoma, Robinson studied jewelry making. He learned to work with metal designing and making small items such as pendants. He soon moved from jewelry to metal castings and decided to pursue metal as a medium for his art. Eager to discover new tools and techniques, he took a job at a foundry in Ponca City. “I was still trying to understand metal,” Robinson said. “I went to Mexico and worked in a foundry there when I was 21. I learned to use tools I would have never been exposed to here.” Soon he was casting tables...

  • From Dusk To Dawn - Sculptural Geometric Abstract Metallic Wall Artwork
    By Hugo Urrutia
    Located in Los Angeles, CA
Born in 1974 in Mexico, Hugo Urrutia is a multidisciplinary artist-designer, interested in the cross-pollination between art and architecture. His artwork challenges the notion of what constitutes a piece of art. As a graduate and active member of the Architectural Association in the United Kingdom, Urrutia's work creates a distinct spatiality located at the interstice of art and architecture. His work explores and uses technology for design and fabrication, with a sensitive and conscious reminder of the creativity of human endeavor. This original artwork is created with oil lacquer paint on carved Baltic birch. This wall sculpture measures 29 inches high by 38 inches wide and has a depth of 5 inches. In this series titled "Flexible Rigids", Urrutia explores sculptural forms that simulate smooth harmonic movements of a flexible surface, initiating the process from a “rigid “surface. The artwork is signed by the artist on the back. Free local Los Angeles area delivery. Affordable Continental U.S. and worldwide shipping available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included with this unique artwork. Urrutia graduated from the Architectural Association in 2013, earning a Master of Architecture in the Design & Make programme. In 2000, he graduated from Texas Tech University, with a Bachelor of Architecture and Design and received the 2000 Outstanding Thesis Award. In 2004, he founded Decorazon Gallery in Dallas’ Bishop Arts District where he curated and exhibited numerous art exhibitions for national and international artists.
