In this abstract painting in red, I am in a thicket, a tangle of vegetation. I squint my eyes, and the light shines under my eyelids into spherical shapes. It's hot and stuffy, the branches prick me, scratch me. Nature sends me signals from every side. I receive them intensively, which means I live. Simplified abstract geometric shapes in warm colors mixed with rounded irregular blue shapes. I wanted the picture to be dynamic, that forms float in a red space devoid of gravity, that this situation would happen in reality which not exists. I want to express my joy in painting. Red is associated with heat, or even a warning or prohibition. I invited red to fill the space with a cheerful mood in this painting. The round and rounded forms in this space can be associated with toys. Their dynamics - with play full of movement, and festive fun. Or maybe this painting will tell you about something else? Abstraction is ambiguous, also in an abstract painting in red.

Jolanta Johnsson
Jolanta Johnsson is a Polish painter, who was born in 1955. She studied at the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts in the years 1984–89, in the graphic studios of professor Halina Chrostowska and professor Rafal Strent and the painting studio of professor Jerzy Tchorzewski. She gained a Ph.D. in visual arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow in 2012. Currently, she runs a graphic arts and design workshop at the European Faculty of Arts at the Vistula Academy of Finance and Business. Her works have been exhibited at numerous exhibitions, including in the United States, Sweden, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and Greece.
