Smoke
Noland Anderson is a self taught portrait artist who strives to create works of art that are a celebration of people of color. He is known for his detailed compositions in oils applied with loose brush strokes. He often features images of Black women and men engaging in everyday life in urban settings. Born in Newport News, Virginia with roots in Sumpter, SC, Noland's passion for figure drawing was formed at an early age. Noland attended the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale where he received an Associate Degree in Advertising. Upon graduating, he went on to work as a freelance illustrator, designing Judaic art throughout the mid 1990s through early 2000s. During this period, Noland's freelance work extended into television where he worked as one of three court artists for the ABC affiliate in South Florida and as an illustrator for Univision (an American media company serving the Latin Market worldwide). Noland is represented by Neema Fine Art Gallery.

- Early Morning CastBy Dana ColemanLocated in Charleston, SCDana Coleman is a contemporary Gullah artist who captures the dynamic, awe-inspiring beauty of the Lowcountry in each of his paintings. His realistic depictions of his Gullah heritage, lowcountry lifestyle, architecture and landscapes draw in the viewer, creating a one-on-one experience that lasts a lifetime. He uses natural and bright colors to execute his contrasting and harmonious work. After earning an associate degree in graphic design at Trident Technical College in Charleston, South Carolina, Dana studied civil engineering at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, where he refined his innate ability to recognize and execute the fine detail that can be found in his paintings. Dana, who has earned several awards for his artistic talent, always has believed that “You can paint anything you set your mind to.” His artwork captures the most vivid and fond memories he has collected since his childhood “in the country,” just outside of Charleston. He shares those experiences with viewers so they can enjoy the diverse and vibrant culture that is unique to Charleston. His architectural background has helped Dana reproduce the history and beauty found in the Charleston area, from its weathered houses and structures to its beautiful beaches and marshland. With an ever-changing palette, Dana paints with various techniques, depending on the subject matter – and his emotional attachment to the subject matter. Applying paint with purpose and patience, he applies the strengths of each specific medium to achieve smooth, rich surfaces and crystal clear, vibrant hues. Dana’s artwork can be found in numerous private art collections around the world and has been displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. His work is a permanent fixture at the Sierra Leone National Museum and the Fort Sumter...Category

- Beflowered IILocated in Ibadan, Oyo"Be-Flowered" is deeply rooted in the African cultural heritage of a female child. In African culture, it is revered that a young woman should maintain her sexual purity until marriage, which brings immense joy and honor to her family when her husband finds her a virgin on their wedding night. The title "Be-Flowered" is derived from the concept of "Deflower," which signifies taking away a lady's innocence or dispossessing her of her virginity. However, in this painting series, my premise is centered on empowering women and celebrating their pride and inherent power. The first two pieces of the series feature ladies adorned in traditional South African bids worn during the Virgin festival. The gentle pink clouds symbolize feminine power and poise, evoking the strength and grace embodied by women. A community that empowers women tends to uphold higher moral standards than one that does not. My perspective veers away from the idea of gender equality, recognizing its limitations, and instead, I believe in gender equity, providing each gender with the opportunities they need to fulfill their potential. This series aims to leave my audience with a profound appreciation for empowerment and a celebration of cultural heritage. I hope viewers will reflect on the significance of embracing one's roots while acknowledging the strength and beauty that women contribute to society.
