"A tribute to the spiritual and ancestral ties that bind us, with a vibrant undercurrent of shared human emotion. I intended to capture the essence of belongingness and familiar comfort that flows between family and friends, and bonded strangers."
Tam Ess makes oil paintings that explore the subconscious, blending figurative surrealism with balanced compositions that captivate the viewers. Her paintings are characterised by vibrant colours harmoniously juxtaposed with earthy tones and subtle shades. This deliberate palette choice adds depth to her works inviting the viewers to delve deeper into the piece and discover paradoxes about life.
Her visual language was heavily influenced by Max Ernst and Hieronymus Bosch. She works primarily with oils on large scale canvas and projects.
