About the Item

Dimensions: 50 x 80 cm without frame, 70 x 100 cm with frame. Gilded, carved, sculpted and chiselled wooden box frames. Publications: Jacob de Heusch (1656 – 1701). Un pittore olandese a Roma, curated by Andrea Busiri Vici d’Arcevia and C. Martini, Roma, 1997, pp. 146, 147. The beautiful pair of paintings presented here is an extraordinary example of the production of de Heusch (1657 - 1701), a Dutch master rooted in the Roman cultural context of the 17th century. De Heusch was a member of the Bentvueghels, a society of mostly Dutch and Flemish artists who were active in Rome from about 1620 to 1720. He specialised in landscapes with particular historical and naturalistic inserts, as can be seen admirably in the pair examined here. Price valid for the two canvases.
