About the Item

Shard and Tower Bridge [2020] Original Architecture Acrylic on Canvas Size: H:70 cm x W:100 cm x D:4cm Sold Unframed Please note that insitu images are purely an indication of how a piece may look Shard and Tower Bridge is an original painting by Marc Todd. It features multiple iconic landmarks painted in his contemporary style. Marc Todd is a contemporary landscape painter, living and working in the city of Bath. Much of Marc Todd's art work is based on subjects and locations in and around Bath, London, and the South West of England. He takes his primary inspiration from structure, texture and composition, and has a love for the application of vivacious colour palettes, dramatic and contrasting light effects, and dynamic mark-making to create aesthetically captivating surfaces. Marc Todd conceives his work 'in situ', and is always based upon real places observed first hand. In recent times, Marc has focused on creating cityscapes, particularly of London, and often on large canvases, blending a unique range of painting techniques to produce a truly distinct and modern aesthetic. These paintings capture the multi-layered dynamism of the ‘living’ city and combine a rigorous attention to physical and geographical detail with an overall harmony of surface effect. Marc has sold work to collectors internationally, both private and corporate, and exhibits his work on a regular basis. Originally trained in graphic design, Marc previously worked as a Creative Director for a number of large London based advertising agencies, before setting up his own creative consultancy advising clients including the BBC, Dow Jones International and Hearst Publishing.

Summer Hope [2021] Please note that insitu images are purely an indication of how a piece may look Summer Hope is part of a series of paintings made in 2021 inspired by early morning walks on the fell landscape. Her expressive paintings are very much influenced by the idea of a new day representing a new beginning, a hopeful emotional moment. This searching for hope was undoubtedly a subconscious response to an extraordinary time and her paintings celebrate the joy and freedom of being in the landscape. Jill is inspired by the landscape of the North East and most of her work is based on an ancient mining landscape called Cockfield Fell where she walks nearly every day. Her atmospheric paintings are a result of her exploration of the interplay between what is seen and what is felt about the landscape. She uses elements of what she sees and combines these with her imagination to create her paintings. She is fascinated by the Fell’s strange, other-worldly, abstract shapes defined by the morning shadows...
