River on the Autumn Plains - Acrylic on Board with Double-Sided Art

2000s

About the Item

River on the Autumn Plains - Western Plein Aire Landscape in Acrylic on Board with Double-Sided Art Expansive Western landscape by California Plein Aire artist Nick White (American, 1943-2009). A vibrant river runs through a low-lying marshland, surrounded by brush and and tree-covered foothills. The sky above is pale blue with soft, wispy clouds. This double-sided art has an image (as seen in the last picture) in dynamic hues of blue with a small shop on the docks of a lake. A man is filling the fuel tank of his yacht, while smaller, red boat awaits. Unsigned, Artists business card on verso, but was acquired from the artist's estate with a collection of his work. Board size: 36"H x 42"W Nick White (American, 1943-2009) began painting in the early 1970s with some early success> Later in life, White was a member (and board member) of the Los Gatos Art Association. He founded the Plein Air group, which he ran until 2009. He was a dedicated painter, leading many excursions regardless of group size. He preferred to paint in acrylic, as its quick-drying properties allowed him to “work fast and loose in the style of the early California impressionists.” Two of his painting were selected for the Fiesta de Artes Posters in 2004 and 2005. Memberships: Los Gatos Art Association. Founder, Plein Air Group. Morgan Hill Gallery Peninsula Outdoor Painters Exhibitions: 2008 - Los Altos Cultural Association Artists Invitational Exhibition, Los Altos, CA 2003 - Solo Show, Los Gatos Council Chambers, Los Gatos, CA Awards: 2004 - Honorable Mention Los Gatos Art Fest 2003 - 2nd Place Los Gatos Art Association Fall Juried Show 2002 - 1st Place Los Gatos Art Association Fall Juried Show
