Robert Hamblen was a self-taught American landscape painter. The artist describes his style as illuministic and in the tradition of the Hudson River paintings Thomas Cole, Frederick Church and George Inness. Recalling the many years he painted in New Jersey, Hamblen said, "There it was a matter of trying to capture landscapes that were falling to the bulldozers. I'd find a beautiful scene to paint and when I'd go back a month later, the trees might be gone and the wild grasses mowed down. Then I'd be off again; trying to find another unspoiled site. Painting is a full-time occupation," Hamblen stated. "Between looking for sites, painting four or five days a week, making business contacts, scheduling and setting up shows, and trying to keep ahead of the paperwork required of a self-employed artist, the work is constant. Most important", said Hamblen, "painting is very satisfying. Being an artist allows me to be independent. I can keep my own hours, but I have to be very disciplined. I like to paint on-site, and strive to capture the realism of my subject. Even more than painting, I enjoy walking. I travel on foot from four to eight miles a day. I love the outdoors, looking at the natural world around me, the changing moods of the sea." Robert Hamblen is the recipient of over 100 awards for excellence. Robert F. Hamblen died at the age of 84. Robert was born in Providence, RI; moved to Wells, Vermont where he lived and painted, and then Milford, New Jersey, at the end of his life.

- "Light Rain", Oil PaintingBy Kevin WeckbachLocated in Denver, COKevin Weckbach's (US based) "Light Rain" is an original, hand made oil painting that depicts a busy city sidewalk where passerby walk along the city avenue lined with towering buildings of a bustling neon metropolis. Artist Statement: "Subject matter to me is a vehicle for me to explore how I observe life. My urban influences are an assembly of varied fabrics stitched together to form a tapestry. It is not to resemble a literal story of what it is; moreover, it is a quilt that explains my visual expression. What I find particularly interesting in human intervention in nature is how we are still intertwined with it. Roads, buildings, and farmlands bend with the natural curves of mountains, hills, and streams. City nights are lit up like lightning bugs...Category

- "Shipyard" Realist Industrial LandscapeBy Robert LavinLocated in Austin, TXThis painting is a 20th century realist landscape depiction of a shipyard by Robert Lavin. The piece is executed in oil on board and measures 10" x 24". Robert Lavin was born in New York City. His education included Townsend Harris, a prep school in New York followed by college at City College of New York. He also attended the National Academy of Art, where he studied as a painter. Studying the social realists of the 1930’s, Lavin, a former Marine pilot, portrayed steelworkers, roughnecks and trainmen. Lavin often painted his “proletarian ballets”- as one critic called them – to illustrate magazine advertisements. The Smithsonian Institution and other museums collected Lavin’s original paintings, which portrayed the laboring subjects with dignity and integrity. Lavin also illustrated stock certificates and books. Paper Money magazine praised him as “one of the greatest vignette artists of the 20th century.” In addition to this, Lavin was for a number of years an Associate Professor of Art at City College of New York, a position he left in the mid ‘60’s in order to devote himself full time to his painting. His commissions took him around the world, from the North Sea to the coast of Africa, from the slopes of Alaska to the Sea of Japan. As part of a series for Gulf Oil, he painted the royal family of England for the opening of a new refinery in Wales. Another portrait of one of the early Americanastronauts, appeared on the cover of Time Magazine. Other major commissions during these years included Readers Digest books...Category
