A striking and beautiful portrait of an elegant Italian woman. She is dressed in a stylishly cut dress, fashionable in the 1920s. She has bejeweled earrings and her hair is elegantly swept back. Her soft brown eyes are filled with warmth and the rosy glow of her cheeks and lips give this woman a confident, kindly air. She is sitting in an arbor, with greenery around her and her dark hair silhouetting her head against the blue sky behind her. Her serenity and elegant dress, may indicate she is some sort of inspirational female figure of the time. This is a truly exquisite portrait in a wonderful style that is both unique, yet maintains characterful realism. The painting has been signed and dated in the lower right corner.
The painting has been presented in a very fine early 20th Century frame. With a glowing gilt finish, acanthus leaf corners and a beautifully fluted cove, this Italianate Empire frame adds grandeur and weight to the exquisite portrait.
