Large 19th Century English church interior scene of young man and his fiancé, oil on canvas by William Hemsley. Beautiful church scene of the gentleman in provincial dress with his young bride to be as their Banns are read out during Sunday church service. Exceptional detail and among the best examples of the artists work. Framed, signed, with artists plaque.

Artist Biography
Prolific Draughtsman and painter of Genre scenes of English provincial life. A member of the Society of British Artists, William Hemsley exhibited in London, particularly at the Royal Academy and the Suffolk Street Gallery, from 1848.
