About the Item

Title: "Venezia" Media: Oil on canvas size: 50 x 70 cm Sergio Scatizzi Lucca 1918 – Florence 2009 Art and nature are the themes of Scatizzi’s work of a journey through contemporaneity, which by analyzing the work of emblematic artists they help us to interpret their concept of art. The paintings of Scatizzi are dedicated through his artistic experience and personal vision above all to the story of the Tuscan landscape, which represents an opportunity to explore the complex relationship of the contemporary artist with nature. As he would say man is immersed in nature and is part of it, the landscape is the fruit of this being. His expression through his paintings is part of this transformation which is generated by natural elements and technical tools that have become more invasive and pervasive to a sort of recovery of the original spirit aimed at bringing nature back to man. With these views we can already see signs of the future informal developments expressed by nature and with the artist's evocative and energetic brush strokes and through his vision of internal expression, as if they were written poetry, he used a mix of mysticism to express with each of his paintings the process of anthropization. His generated landscapes are interpreted as harmonic tension, expression and feeling as he painted with evocative force. It is an ancient lesson, made current not only by the particular pictorial language but by also the basic message, being society has extreme need for art and beauty. Scatizzi was certainly animated by the tension of beauty. A reminder of his last exhibition which was held in Palazzo Pitti, Barocco Informale in 2009. Currently his work is a part to the permanent collection at the Museo Novecento in Piazza Santa Maria Novella in Florence.
