Olga Antonova
Elegant Still Life of Two Blue and White Stacked Cups with Blue Background"

2016

About the Item

Elegant Still Life of Two Blue and White Stacked Cups with Blue Background" Olga Antonova’s subject is still lifes of elegant cups, plates, teapots, and dishes, singular for their freshness and beauty, but there is something whimsical about them as well – stacked teacups are jaunty and upbeat, taking on a kind of personality of their own. Polka dots are as endearing to adults as children, and everyone responds to the 'bling' and sparkle of gold. Antonova has a seemingly effortless ability to paint its radiance. Occasional viewers have made personal associations with their own or a relative’s porcelain collection and have commissioned still lifes by the artist which incorporate family heirlooms. Olga Antonova was born in Volgograd Russia in 1956 and graduated from the Repin Institute in St. Petersburg in 1980. Soon after graduation she immigrated to the US and has resided in the Boston area for many years. Her works have been seen in 34 one-person exhibitions and over 60 group shows in the US and Europe, articles have regularly appeared in “The Boston Globe,” “American Art Collector,” “Art News” and “The Boston Herald” among other publications , and her works are included in numerous private and public collections including the Print Collection of the Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Museum, Rutgers University. She is also the recipient of an Artists Fellowship in Visual Art awarded by the City of Sacramento, CA. Olga Antonova has been represented by the Beth Urdang Gallery since 2006.

  • Rocks Glasses
    By Inkyeong Baek
    Located in New York, NY
Oil painting on canvas by female Korean artist based in New York. Hyper-realistic, Trompe-l’œil painting that depicts an assortment of glass vessels. The glasses seem to pop off the canvas through optical illusion that renders the image in three-dimensions. Sensational paintings of glass vessels come to life in this dynamic exhibition featuring new works by Korean artist Inkyeong Baek. Demonstrating an uncanny ability to capture her subject-matter, Baek’s enchanting oil paintings glitter with a gemstone-like quality that truly captivates. The material characteristics of glass are fickle, often visually elusive. Yet each work on display beautifully illustrates, in stunning, hyper-realistic detail, an array of objects, from champagne flutes to whisky tumblers. Take the large-scale painting, Rocks...
