About the Item

Leo Castelli remains an extremely prominent figure in the art world. He started his career in the late 1930s by opening a gallery of surrealist art in Paris. When he came to the United States just a few years later, his influence grew. Artists such as Elaine de Kooning, Frank Stella, and Andy Warhol have made references to Castelli in their work. Castelli had a keen eye for modern art and was an avid promoter of Pop Art during the 60’s. The Leo Castelli Gallery would eventually represent Warhol as well as Rauschenberg, Johns, and Lichtenstein. – Pat Hackett, editor of The Warhol Diaries This is a unique work.
