Jan Voss
Jan Voss was born in Hamburg, Germany, in 1936. He studied at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste München (Academy of Fine Arts Munich) from 1956–60. In 1966–67, Voss was a guest lecturer at the HFBK University of Fine Arts Hamburg. He was a professor at the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris between 1987–92. Work by Voss was shown at the Kunsthalle in Kiel in 1997 and the Städtische Galerie Villa Zanders in Bergisch Gladbach in 2002. That same year he had a one-man show at Art Cologne to great critical acclaim. Jan Voss's artistic theme is creating order amongst perpetually moving chaos of a complex situation. Voss experiments with different inventive techniques and materials. His work has been exhibited and collected internationally.

He served as a high-ranking officer in the Israeli Army and fought in the War of Independence. In 1959 Yona Lotan began painting; he's considered a self-taught, outsider artist. Lotan always had the unquenchable desire to draw. His one-man shows in Israel and Geneva were so successful that he left the army, sold all his belongings and moved to Paris in 1960 in order to devote his life to painting. His art was vibrant and he became well known, not only in Europe, but also in the United States. In 1965 he won the coveted Prize of Foreign Painting given by the National Museum of Modern Art in Paris. Along with Maryan, Avigdor Arikha, Mordechai Ardon and Yaacov Agam. he was part of a group of Jewish emigre artists who worked in Paris.
