Original serigraph silkscreen prints by German/Canadian expressionist
Yargo de Lucca (1925-2008) from the “Canada Suite” series, a
hand-signed and numbered Inuit-inspired silkscreen prints depicting an Abstract Surrealist depiction of Canadian wildlife. 10.5 x 13.5 plate size.
The German / Canadian artist Yargo de Lucca was born in 1925 in Kassel, Germany.He studied in Frankfurt, Munich and in the Stuttgart Academy of Art where he was a student of Willi Baumeister.
In 1951, de Luca took up residence in Canada and became a Canadian citizen. Later he would divide his time between his two studios in Alternhein am Bodensee in Switzerland and Deux Montagnes in Canada. Later he also lived and worked in Alicante, Spain. In New York City, the two met artist Alfred Stieglitz, who was instrumental in organizing their first American show at the Anderson Gallery.Following the exhibition, in 1922, they both returned to Europe. In 1923, Rubin emigrated to Mandate Palestine. Rubin met his wife, Esther, in 1928, aboard a passenger ship to Palestine on his return from a show in New York.
