20th century color lithograph French winter scene female figures trees leaves

1986

About the Item

"Promenade sous les Arbres (Walk under the Trees)" is an original color lithograph by Francois Batet, signed in the lower right and numbered in the lower left. At the center of the piece, two women look to the viewer during their stroll, their soft gaze complimenting the colors and brushstrokes that make them up. Bright muted colors lend themselves to create the feeling of a brisk walk in the wintertime. Edition: 5/200 Art size: 18 1/2" x 23 1/2" Frame size: 31 1/2 x 36 1/2" Francois Batet was born in 1921 in Barcelona, Spain. He studied painting at the School of San Jordi (Beaux Arts) and also at Tarrega Academy. When he lived in Madrid he studied the masters like Goya and Valasquez. He then moved to Paris and studied famous French impressionistic painters. He has lived and worked in France since 1950. Batet's classic School of Paris style recalls the spirit of Paris in the 1920's and 1930's. In addition to being a master print maker, he has illustrated over 100 books. Francois Batet has exhibited throughout the world including France, U.S.A., Japan, Belgium, Germany, England, Korea, Australia and South Africa.
