Artist: Chen Quian. [Advertisement for B.S Insurance Co.] 1912 Color lithograph, Rare. Very early Chinese advertising poster at the end of the Quing Dynasty. The Qing Dynasty (1644–1912) was the last Chinese dynasty, and the longest dynasty ruled by foreigners (the Manchus from Manchuria, northeast of the Great Wall). Chen Quian. The whole wealth of China was concentrated in Shanghai. It was Shanghai at it’s most decadent - very sophisticated and very open to the West.
