Joan Miró Vinyl Record Art

1979

About the Item

Joan Miró vinyl album art, 1979: Raimon and Joan Miró were close friends that first collaborated on the 1966 album Cançons de la roda del temps. In 1979, Miró designed a cover for the album Quan la aigua queixa, including the name of Raimon in large handwritten letters. As a result of this relationship, Raimon composed the song A Joan Miró, which creatively certified his admiration towards the painter. Off-set lithograph on record album cover. 12 x 12 inches. Very good overall vintage condition. Miro credit appears on backside of album (last image in listing). Original record included in very good condition. Looks fantastic framed. Literature & References: Art & Vinyl Hardcover by Fraenkel & De Beaupré (2018) One of the most well-known veteran artists in the Catalan language, Raimon is one of the most important exponents of the musical style of Nova Cançó. Joan Miró was a seminal figure in 20th-century avant-garde painting. The Spanish artist’s innovative use of line, organic shapes, and color represented a major contribution to Surrealism. Representative of his ability to conjure evocative space, Miró’s famed triptych Blue I,II,II (1961) portrays a floating world using only blue, orange, and black. “Little by little, I've reached the stage of using only a small number of forms and colors,” the artist reflected. “It's not the first time that painting has been done with a very narrow range of colors. The frescoes of the tenth century are painted like this.” Born on April 20, 1893 in Barcelona, Spain, the artist first studied commerce before defying his parents and enrolling in the art academy in his hometown. In 1919, Miró moved to Paris where he fell into the Surrealist milieu, befriending André Breton, Max Ernst, Jean Arp, and André Masson. Miró’s work profoundly influenced several American painters, including Arshile Gorky and Mark Rothko. The artist died at age 90 on December 25, 1983 in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. Today, his works are held in the collections of the Art Institute of Chicago, The Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Tate Gallery in London, and the Fundació Joan Miró in Barcelona, a museum dedicated to the artist and his legacy. • Vintage 1970s Alexander Calder poster (Calder prints)
    By (after) Alexander Calder
    Located in NEW YORK, NY
Alexander Calder 'La Grenouille et Cie': Vintage original 1971 poster for the exhibition Pace Columbus (Ohio) featuring a printed Calder signature. Medium: Offset lithograph. Dimensions: 25 x 32 inches. An original 1st printing in very good vintage condition. Plate signed on the lower right from an edition of unknown. This is an original 1970s poster and not a recent reproduction of any kind. Alexander Calder changed the course of modern art with his three-dimensional kinetic sculptures, which Marcel Duchamp named “mobiles.” Resonating with tenets of Futurism, Constructivism, and early non-objective painting, Calder’s mobiles consist of boldly colored abstract shapes, which are made from industrial materials and hang in lyrical balance. Calder was an international phenomenon during his lifetime. He won the grand prize for sculpture at the 1952 Venice Biennale, where he represented the United States. He earned the French Legion of Honor and the American Presidential Medal of Freedom, among other honors. Calder has been the subject of solo exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art, the Rijksmuseum, the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, and the Museo Reina Sofía. His work regularly sells for eight figures on the secondary market. Though Calder is best known for his mobiles, his diverse practice also encompassed standing sculpture, painting, set and costume design, large-scale public installation, and jewelry-making.
