John Hogan A graduate of Northeast Louisiana State University with a bachelor's degree and New Mexico Highlands University with a Masters in Art Hogan studied with Edward Schutz and Elmer Schooley both exceptional landscape painters. "At Northeast Schutz introduced me to Nature as subject matter and gave me the opportunity for the first time to immerse myself in a variety of visual media that seemed to have limitless possibilities. It was Shutz, also a Highlands University graduate, who suggested I go to New Mexico to study with his old mentor Elmer Schooley. My interest in the patterns found in nature is a direct result of Dr. Schooley's influence. In the 1960s Schooley introduced us to the work of Pierre Bonnard which opened up a whole new paradigm about the nature of color and light." Hogan taught art at the University of Texas at El Paso where he became deeply involved in both drawing and printmaking techniques that have merged in many ways with his painting. Since the 1970s Hogan has exhibited widely throughout the Southwest as well as abroad. Hogan has worked in the Santa Fe Museum of Art, The Eiteljorg Museum of American Indian and Western Art in Indianapolis, Indiana, and is represented in many private and corporate collections. We exhibited John Hogan’s artwork since the 1960s.

John Hogan
John Hogan is a Seattle-based glass artist. His critically lauded work, which spans both functional objects and fine art sculpture, is highly distinctive in its exploration of refracted light. Drawing influences from a wide range of sources, from molecular gastronomy to physics. Hogan’s sculptures evoke an otherworldly quality; glass that feels alive, morphing simple, recognizable forms into complex, inexpressible objects.

Dominating the scene is the formidable Tower Bridge. These ‘mudlarkers’ are searching for scraps and broken bits of history - rummaging in the muddy shore of the river. Who knows what treasures will be discovered. Originally a mudlark was someone who scavenged in river mud for items of value, a term used especially to describe those who scavenged this way in London during the late 18th and 19th centuries. The practice of searching the banks of rivers for items continues in the modern era, with newer technology such as metal detectors...Category
