Monster on Nice Roof has been produced for the occasion of the exhibition The Horror Show! A Twisted Tale Of Modern Britain at Somerset House (27th Oct 2022 - 19th Feb 2023), which includes Jamie Reid’s Monster On Nice Roof painting from 1970. This image of suburban dread was originally produced as part of Reid’s unfinished Cat Book project. Monster On Nice Roof (2022) has heightened fluorescence in the colour combinations and is taken from a vintage colour Xerox in the Jamie Reid Archive. Interestingly, a version of this composition was offered by Reid as artwork for Anarchy In The UK but was rejected by Malcolm McLaren as being ‘too Romantic’!
