About the Item
Block VIII is a bronze sculpture by French contemporary artist Delphine Brabant from the series "Architecture".
23 cm × 20 cm × 16 cm. Limited edition of 8 and 4 artist's proofs.
In this series, the artist designs geometric shapes bringing together different volumes and right angles, alternating between vertical and horizontal shapes, the fullness and the emptiness. The assembly of these elements creates new volumes which sometimes bring to mind modern architecture projects.
Fascinated with the concept of construction, Delphine Brabant composes her abstract sculptures like an architect, assembling and fitting together a multitude of simple forms. Finding inspiration in the verticality, horizontality and the interplay between solid and space, the artist tends to favor clean geometric shapes, developing her art around a notion of balance.

Delphine Brabant
Deeply fascinated with the concept of construction, Delphine Brabant composes her abstract sculptures like an architect, assembling and fitting together a multitude of simple forms. Inspired by nature as much as by cityscapes and buildings, the contemporary artist develops her artistic research around the concepts of verticality and horizontality, the balance between fullness and emptiness, and the notions of group and harmony. Delphine Brabant works with bronze, steel, concrete, plaster and clay but also stone and wood. “In my work, there are always two opposing ideas. Strength and fragility. The full and the void. Light and darkness. Balance and imbalance.’’

The feeling of determination to achieve and continue steering through obstacles is poured into the pure forms; a dynamic balancing of the straight and curve on different axes. "It's important for me to experience the world at a deeper level by penetrating the veil of the senses. Through an immersive process the essence, beauty and the pure form of an idea are gradually revealed to me. The emerging awareness flows into my artwork imbuing it with a higher reality. To achieve this awareness in my creative process, I go through three stages: imagination, inspiration and intuition." - Flavius PisapiaCategory
