About the Item
Hollows 3 is a unique sculpture by contemporary artist Sharon Brill. This is a wheel thrown altered and sandblasted porcelain sculpture, sold with a round ceramic stand, dimensions are 19 × 28 × 16 cm (7.5 × 11 × 6.3 in).
This sculpture is a unique piece signed by the artist and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
Sharon Brill’s production is made of pieces whose aesthetics is marked and delicate. The pieces are made from wheel-thrown or slab-constructed and altered porcelain, they are sanded with different sized sandpaper before and after the oven step. Her sculptures are surprising and dynamic, their abstract shapes vary from different points of view, granting the viewer multiple possibilities of imagination and discovery. ]
The artist’s main inspiration is the sea. Inspired by the energy of the sea, a marine atmosphere emerges from the sculptures which sometimes look like waves or shells. The artistic creation is continuously influenced by the composition of the different textures and colours created by the light, the air, the water and the sand we can see on the coasts.

Sharon Brill
Sharon Brill works mainly in porcelain, creating abstract sculptures with an almost organic appearance. The bare, perfectly smooth surface of her sculptures draws us into a constant back-and-forth between the inside and the outside, the visible and the invisible, echoing our own interior world. She draws her main inspiration from the marine world: from the shapes drawn by the wind on the sand or the surface of the water, from the surfaces of shells or reefs carried by the tide, from the foam left by the waves... Elegant and unique ceramics, her sculptures take shape during a long creative process always guided by instinct. “The principle of my work lays in the integration of two concepts: on the one hand a meticulous and minimalist aesthetic, and on the other hand a spontaneous research, limitless and intuitive.”

- Stand-Ins for Period of Wreckage 25By Theaster GatesLocated in Palm Desert, CAA sculpture by Theaster Gates. "Stand-Ins for Period of Wreckage 25" is a contemporary sculpture, white concrete and porcelain by American, Blue Chip artist Theaster Gates. The artwork is unsigned. Theaster Gates' practice includes sculpture, installation, performance and urban interventions that aim to bridge the gap between art and life. Gates works as an artist, curator, urbanist and facilitator and his projects attempt to instigate the creation of cultural communities by acting as catalysts for social engagement that leads to political and spatial change. Gates has described his working method as “critique through collaboration” – often with architects, researchers and performers – to create works that stretch the idea of what we usually understand visual-based practices to be. For his exhibition at Milwaukee Art Museum exhibition in 2010, for example, Gates invited a 250 strong gospel choir into the galleries to sing songs adapted from the inscriptions on pots by the famous 19th century slave and potter 'Dave Drake'. For the 2010 Whitney Biennial, Gates transformed the Whitney’s Sculpture Court with a spare, architectural installation that functioned as a communal gathering space for performances, social engagement, and contemplation. For the duration of the exhibition Gates collaborated with various creative practitioners on a series of 'monastic residencies', holding live events such as the session by Gates' musical ensemble, the Black Monks of Mississippi. In another recent exhibition at Seattle Art Museum, Gates transformed the gallery into an audio archive entitled 'The Listening Room', incorporating a hand-built DJ...Category
