Boykewich Acrylic on paper mache sculpture on hand painted wooden shelf, figurative, magical realism, neo-folk, still life sculpture; classic Campbells canned Alphabet Soup complete with pasta letters, green peas and tomato broth served in a bowl and blue plate with a spoon and a woodgrain painted shelf, all handpainted with incredible detail; palette includes bright and saturated colors including red, orange, yellow, green, blue, white, tan, brown and silver gray 2.25" high x 9.25" wide x 9.5" deep ABOUT THE ARTIST Gail M Boykewich studied painting and sculpture at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She was drawn to traditional portrait painting, magic realism, and folk art. Gail’s meticulously detailed work is driven by her love of flora and fauna, and the importance of human symbiosis. She strives to highlight the beauty of the natural world and the significance of environmental conservation using fictitious characters and unique plants and animals. Her themes have been described as whimsical, tender, melancholic and sometimes humorous. Gail is a New York City area based artist who has shown her work in Chicago, Los Angeles, Houston, Minneapolis, Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Jersey City.
