Large Flattened Form with Shards and Cane in Blues - blown glass vessel
By Susan Rankin
Located in Bloomfield, ON
This beautiful burnt orange vessel in blown glass takes its organic shape and wild patterns from nature. Canadian artist Susan Rankin finds inspiration in the ever-changing colours and forms in the garden she tends to all summer. “With this new series of blown vessels I am working with more transparent translucent colours, shards, glass threads and thread drawing. The resulting pieces have a history/story built into the surface, which encompass the optic qualities of glass and light.” Susan Rankin She graduated with honors from Sheridan College, Oakville Ontario, in 1989 and received a three-year artist in residency at the Harbourfront Centre glass studio. Rankin has studied glass at the Pilchuck...

Probability Deep Blue 4 - elegant, curved, abstract, glass, wall sculpture
By John Paul Robinson
Located in Bloomfield, ON
John Paul Robinson creates original contemporary wall sculptures from coloured glass that are filled with light. This piece features elegant arched deep blue tubes of glass that are polished to a smooth finish and overlap one another to create a dynamic composition. The Canadian artist often explores themes related to how the world works. This is one of a series intended to represent the dual nature of light as both a particle and a wave. In physics, the wave nature of light is referred to as a "probability wave". “The thickness of the glass and curvature of the lens conspire to create their own optical effect. As your gaze moves across the piece it causes the small grains of coloured glass to shift just a bit. Starry Starry Night...

"Bowl (CH1)", Contemporary, Porcelain, Sculpture, Vessel Form, Glass Detail
By Bonnie Seeman
Located in St. Louis, MO
Bonnie Seeman grew up in Miami, Florida with a propensity towards anatomy illustration and the dazzling colors and rich foliage of the Miami landscape. Developing her technique with porcelain and glass, Seeman channeled her inspirations; resulting in vessels that are both beautiful and macabre. Combinations of muscular and skeletal anatomy and plant forms are the makeup of these sculptural utilitarian vessels. Instead of dwelling on dying, Seeman’s palpable forms culminate in an acute awareness and awe toward life, renewal, nature, and vitality. Shortly after completing her master’s degree in Fine Arts, Seeman was recognized by Galeria OMR in Mexico City, a gallery known for its cutting-edge artists. In effect, Seeman’s porcelain was taken out of the craft context and placed in exhibitions such as ARCO in Madrid, FIAC in Paris, and Art Basel. She shows extensively throughout the United States and was recipient of the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation 2005 Biennial Competition Award. Selected Collections Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, NY Sadberk Hanim Museum, Koc Family Collection, Istanbul, Turkey World Ceramic Exposition Foundation, Icheon, Korea Racine Art Museum, Racine, WI The Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburg, PA Corsaw Collection of Functional Ceramics, The Scein-Joseph International Museum of Ceramic Art, New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University, Alfred, NY Minnesota Museum of American Art, Minneapolis, MN Mint Museum of Craft and Design, Alan Chassanoff Collection, Charlotte, NC Lamar Dodd Art Center, La Grange College, La Grange, GA Albertson College, Caldwell, ID Lowe Art Museum, Palley Collection, University of Miami...

Surrealist Porcelain Teapot and Cup Set with Tray, Ceramic and Glass Accents
By Bonnie Seeman
Located in St. Louis, MO
Bonnie Seeman grew up in Miami, Florida with a propensity towards anatomy illustration and the dazzling colors and rich foliage of the Miami landscape. Developing her technique with porcelain and glass, Seeman channeled this inspiration; the resulting vessels are beautiful and macabre combinations of anatomical parts and plant forms. Often the utilitarian vessels open to reveal her trademark dichotomy between outward beauty and visceral illness. Instead of dwelling on dying, Seeman’s palpable forms culminate in an acute awareness and awe toward life, nature, and vitality. Shortly after completing her master’s degree in Fine Arts, Seeman was recognized by Galeria OMR in Mexico City, a gallery known for it conceptual, cutting-edge artists.
