This pretty and shimmering buckle by the renowned Piel Frères company dates from c.1920. Condition Report: Very Good - A little darkening to a couple of the paste stones. This is consistent with age, only apparent upon close inspection and does not detract from the overall appeal of the piece. The Details... This buckle is constructed from silver tone metal. It features a geometric design and is detailed with floral motifs. The buckle is set with small, round and baguette cut colourless paste stones. The buckle is signed - the reverse is stamped 'PF' with a sword motif in between the letters. The buckle measures 10.5cm x 3cm. A Short History... The work of the Parisian Piel Frères is highly sought after. They were amongst the most important costume jewellers of the early 20th century, with their work embodying the aesthetic trends of the time and incorporating newly pioneered materials, such as celluloid, that were being designed to make stylish jewellery affordable. Piel Frères caused a sensation at the Paris International Exhibition in 1900. Wear it With... This buckle is a dream collectors piece.
