1970s Chanel Mohair Silk-Lined Seafoam Green Coat

About the Item

This early vintage Chanel Mohair coat is the most perfect shade of seafoam green and cut in an elegant and gently flared silhouette. It features a high collar with bow detail at the neck, and fastens with a single button closure on the collar line to the left hand side. The interior is lined with matching green silk, with the exterior fabric made up of a lovely thick mohair. The coat falls in an A line shape to around knee length, and has two silk lined pockets on either side. With a lovely weight to it and in such an unusual colour, this would be a perfect addition to any seasonal wardrobe. The 'Chanel Creations' label dates from after Mademoiselle Chanel passed away in 1971 when the couture house was led by a series of designers, including Pierre Cardin, before Karl Lagerfeld took the reins in 1983. In 1978 the label reverted to ready to wear; however, the construction of the coat is most definitely to haute couture standards and we can comfortably date to 1971 - 1977. The coat is in excellent vintage condition, with no stains or faults to note. Its relaxed shape would fit a variety of sizes up to a 12 UK, or 8 US. • 1970s Ted Lapidus Green Linen Coat Dress
    By Ted Lapidus
    Located in London, GB
This is a great example of early unisex fashion from the revered French designer Ted Lapidus. He popularised sports utility wear and the safari suit look along with Yves Saint Laurent in the 60s and 70s. This dress is made from a richly woven linen fabric and has several notable design details including a wide lapel collar and double breasted rows of buttons with two very large front pockets. The concealed access for these pockets is in fact on the sides of the dress. The jacket has beautiful tailoring and is fully lined in a olive coloured acetate. The coat dress is in excellent vintage condition with only very minor signs of wear. There is a model number hidden within the left hand pocket. There are belt loops however the original belt is missing. We have styled it here with an original Gucci logo...

  • 1960s Jeff Banks Clobber Black Velvet Hooded Coat
    By Jeff Banks
    Located in London, GB
This late 1960s black velvet hooded Clobber coat has a real autumnal, almost witchy feel. It features a high neck with button and loop fastening running all the way down the front, with each button embossed with a etched floral repeat pattern. The velvet itself is a very fine chenille, which has a lovely luminosity to it despite being charcoal black in colour. Though the main body of the jacket is unlined the hood is lined with soft black silky fabric, making it lovely and comfortable to wear. The coat flares out slightly at the waist, creating a classic Victorian, almost gothic style silhouette. This coat is in excellent vintage condition, with no flaws or marks to note. It is shown here on our size 6-8 model and would best fit up to a 8-10 UK, or 4-6 US. The influential designer was a pivotal member of the swinging 60s London fashion scene when he cofounded 'Clobber' in Blackheath Village, London, in 1964. The boutique carried both his own designs and the work of other designers and attracted celebrities such as Terence Stamp and Jean Shrimpton, Twiggy and some of the Beatles. It proved such a success that in 1969, he launched his own fashion label, opening the first standalone Jeff Banks...
