About the Item
Dr C Dresser attributed for Colebrookdale Iron Works. A rare set of 18 Anglo-Japanese cast iron stair and/or balcony balustrades including the original knurl post making a long run of 19 pieces in total.
There are 11 with round bar extensions to the bases which fit into pre-drilled holes in the side of a staircase and another seven with circular plates to the bases, these have three three screw holes in each to screw them to the staircase sides or the base of a balcony. Both fixings could be modified to match.
This design was registered at the Public Records Office on 15th November 1872.
The height of the balustrades varies ever so slightly with the top bars a little longer by up to 4cm (1.5 inches) on some than others, The height of each of them measures between 90 cm (35.5 in) tall, and 94 (37 inches) tall.
Width: 18.42 cm (7.25 in), Depth: 1.91 cm (0.75 in).
The staircase knurl post measures Height 91.5 cm (36 inches). Width x Depth of 15 cm (6 inches).
