19th Century English Terra Cotta Garden Pedestal
About the Item
This tall and dramatic pedestal created of English terracotta was made in the mid 19th century. Fashioned in a modeling process the piece is stamped by the maker and has an amazing and wonderful old patina from many many years of outdoor use. The process that this pedestal was made from can be seen in garden urns and statuary from England as well as architectural embellishments for doors and windows interior and exterior, roof tiles, chimney stacks and pavers from the late 18th century on into the regency period and into the early Edwardian period. This item has clearly been outside all its life and used to display a bust or urn from it patina and surface but has no large or blemishing damage or chips but is covered with expected use and wear for its age and purpose. The diameter of the top is 13".
