About the Item
Beautiful vintage Murano hand blown Sommerso iridescent blue green Italian art glass folded over rim bowl / ashtray. Documented to Master glass artist and designer Alfredo Barbini, circa 1950-1960. Published design in his Weil Ceramics and Glass catalog. The bowl has a heavy aurene / iridescent surface creating a rainbow of colors when the light hits it. It also has 3 decorative folds around the rim. Would make a great display piece on any desk, dresser or coffee table. Use it as a catchall, or candy dish. Mid-century era. Measures: 6" long x 6" wide x 2 1/4" high.

Alfredo Barbini
Alfredo Barbini (1912–2007), a glass artist born in 1912 on the islands of Murano in the lagoon of Venice, Italy, was one of Murano's leading figures of the 20th century. His parents were members of families, which had been prominent in the glassmaking industry on Murano for generations as glassblowers and beadmakers.
