Mari Simmulson, Decorative Bowl
About the Item
Product Description:
This item has been designed by Mari Simmulson for Upsala Ekeby. Before moving to Upsala Ekeby Mari worked for Arabia and Gustavsberg respectively. In between the two different employers she studied sculpture in Munich but had to leave the country and her family behind due to the outbreak of the second world war. Her work has a more mature feel to it than the work of other designers of her time. Whereas her work is not less imaginative than Lisa Larson's, it radiates more strength and less softness.
The work on offer here is a personal favourite. The plate has a organic, almost ancient, touch to it. I would consider hanging the work on a wall or putting it on display in a showcase.
Product Condition:
The work has a rough surface with some crackle on it. It is not clear whether the crackle has been created in the production process or came about afterwards. In any case the crackle does not harm the appeal of the work.

- Suku Park - Porcelain BowlLocated in MAASTRICHT, LIProduct description: This bowl, designed by Korean artist Suku Park, is made with very fine, thin porcelain. The porceiain is thin enough such that when you shine light on it some of it will pass through the material. The raised edges of the bowl are perforated (by design) giving the otherwise clean item a little organic touch. I would like to recommend to display the item on its own in a room with minimalist design. The designer Suku Park was born in 1947 in Seoul, Korea and moved to Sweden in 1974 where he graduated from the Swedish State School...Category
