Mexican Patamban Hand Painted Fish Design Folk Art Green & Brown Glazed Platter
About the Item
Stunning Mexican Patamban hand painted fish design Folk Art green and brown glazed pottery platter. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear. There is one small imperfection on the rim of platter that we feel is an unglazed spot might be a chip can’t tell. Please see photos and zoom in for details. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, Mid-Late 20th Century.
Something seems a bit “fishy” about this platter… Of course, it does!! That’s because there is a FABULOUS hand painted fish swimming through moss or a leafy vine in the center of this lovely Mexican Patamban pottery platter! It is comprised of wonderful red clay glazed with rich green and deep brown hand painted details. The sculpted edge is crinkled like a pie crust and although it is platter shaped, it is not intended for food, unless you cover it with plastic wrap. It is a spectacular specimen of Folk Art that will be wonderful to exhibit on a shelf, sofa table, or in a display cabinet. It would also look AMAZING hanging on a wall, on a counter in your kitchen, or as a centerpiece on your dining or coffee table. There really isn’t any room in your home that this fabulous platter can’t go! This Mexican Patamban pottery platter is “the catch of the day!” Haven’t we “lured you in” by now? Well then, “take the bait!” Make it YOURS!!!

- Organic Modern Cast Bronze Bowl Sculpture with Fish Design by John ForsytheLocated in Topeka, KSFabulous organic modern bronze fishbowl sculpture by John Forsythe comprised of cast bronze with golden bronze and green patination. Gorgeous vintage condition with no outstanding flaws that we have found. Please see photos. Circa 1993. No human being, however great, or powerful, was ever so free as a fish – John Ruskin, Picture Quotes. Just look at this magnificent cast bronze bowl sculpture with fish design created by John Forsythe. A decorative bowl comprised of a cast bronze water whirlpool with swimming fish caught in the spinning currents, their half bodies and patinated green tails distending from the swirling water and a fish tail protruding from the exterior base of the bowl. You feel the struggle of trying to stay above water and complete your journey. Surrounded by a cast bronze rim trimmed with shiny green bubbles or fish eggs as to represent salmon and their spawning. Salmon lay an enormous number of eggs because they face a lot of adversity on their journey to becoming an adult, and while we aren’t sure these fish are in fact salmon, it certainly speaks to the realities of the course of life. Overcoming hardships and struggles and new beginnings. This sculpture is unique and one of only fifty created by John Forsythe, so it is sure to be a sought-after piece for collectors. In the style of organic modern or fantasy, this piece would be gorgeous displayed on your dining table, display cabinet or buffet in the family room, or on the coffee table in the living room. John Forsythe knew at an early age that he wanted to be an artist. He graduated from Emporia State University in 1976 with his BFA and started working with metals. He was employed as manager of Oxbow Foundry and befriended Eldon Tefft, Founder of the International Sculptor Guild and Chair of the University of Kansas Art...Category

Note: Shipping is possible via parcel which may reduce shipping costs Hey there! Do you need a hand? Or SEVEN?? We are here to help!! We have seven Folk Art style vases with molded hands of many vibrant colors to offer to you! This set includes 2 white, 2 maroon or burgundy, 1 green, 1 yellow, and one bright red molded plastic vases. That’s 35 fantastic fingers!! They are round at the bottom and kind of oval or egg shaped at the top. They are inner lined with burlap for extra reinforcement, but they are light weight, so if you want to put something a little heavier inside like an artificial plant, you may want to put a weight of some kind in the base. They will hold water, but for a “handy” tip… we certainly DO NOT recommend drinking from them! They are best used as unique, eye-catching décor!! They would host a wonderful spider plant...Category
