Signe Persson-Melin Stoneware Bowl, 1960s, Sweden
About the Item
Signe Persson-Melin, a Copenhagen and Konstfack-educated artist, established her Malmö workshop in 1951. Renowned for her spice jars, pitchers, and bowls, she later collaborated with iconic brands like Boda Nova and Höganäs Keramik. As a two-time professor at Konstfack, she also left her mark on public spaces, crafting ceramic installations in the Stockholm subway. This unique 1960s/70s bowl, handcrafted in her Malmö studio, boasts chamotte-fired stoneware, a cream glaze, and a distinctive zigzag pattern. Look for her signature: a fish stamp. A timeless piece from a design luminary. Also marked with a shell.
