Kosta Boda Venus Clam
About the Item
The Venus Clam is created by the Swedish artist Åsa Jungnelius and inspired by Sandro Botticelli’s famous painting, The Birth of Venus, from the 1480s, in which the Roman goddess Venus emerges on a clam shell after she is birthed from the sea. The Venus Clam is a decorative object with a dual role as a dish and is part of the Kosta Boda Artist Collection. The piece is handmade at Kosta Glassworks, Sweden, in a subtle pink color, which is first melted down, and then obtained from a ceramic crucible. It is an elaborate process that leads to a beautiful result.
