Music box made in Switzerland 2nd quarter-19th century.
This rare snuffbox plays 2 melodies, on a comb made of several small parts. (Until the mid-19th century, it was not yet possible to make a comb from 1 part).
The box is made of tortoiseshell and the lid depicts Apollo.
Because of the general condition of this piece, it can be called very exceptional, all damages and signs of use indicate a past with great care and dedication. It is over 100 years old, so there are some flaws befitting the age of this object.
