Includes a delightfully informative note handwritten by a former owner in 1995 that reads:
“This brass tobacco box, New England, c. 1750, came from our country home in Connecticut. It was very near the Yudhris [?]—of Pepperidge Farm, no less. We used it in the kitchen to keep string, but never tobacco—until its value soared. Then it was moved to the overmantel in the sitting room.”
