A North African Brass Menorah, Circa 1900

About the Item

This North African Hanukkah lamp has unique structural characteristics not seen in many Antique Hanukkah lamps. Engraved on the backplate are many scrolling floral and foliate designs bordered by archways, windows, and teardrop motifs. Surmounted at top of the backplate are two openwork Star of David's on either side attached to foliate patterns and flanking the top two-headed bird finial attached at its crest The positioning of the wide rectangular pans are extremely unique as they are not placed in a row as seen in traditional Hannukah lamps but rather atop one another in a vertical ascending fashion. The servant lamp is positioned at the upper center at top between both rows of the oil pans all hovering above the lower pinched drip pan which serves as its base.
