Feldman Lighting Co.
The light that emanates from Feldman Lighting Company’s decorative chandeliers, pendants and sconces — encased in sculpted bronze and copper and frequently featuring motifs drawn from the natural world — embodies the brutalist movement of the mid-20th century.
The Los Angeles firm’s best known fixtures were produced in various styles from the late 1940s until the 1980s, and its most notable designer, Tom Greene was a graduate of UCLA’s dental school and originally worked as a dental prosthetist.
Beginning in the 1950s, when he wasn't at work in his dental lab, Greene would craft small jewelry pieces utilizing techniques that were typically reserved for making dental crowns and other prosthetics. Unsatisfied with jewelry as a medium, Greene stepped it up and began crafting free-form sculptures from brass and bronze, using an oxyacetylene torch to cut and heat the metal, and hammering it into shape with artisan tools (a torch-cut lamp of Greene’s appeared on Star Trek during the 1960s). He also worked with the ancient technique of lost-wax casting, which sees metal objects and furnishings cast from wax models.
Greene began producing fixtures for Lightolier and Feldman Lighting in the 1970s after seeing much success selling his pieces through Los Angeles furniture retailer and manufacturer Monteverdi-Young. Greene made numerous custom pieces for Feldman to adorn the Hollywood Regency-themed interiors of its Beverly Hills clientele.
The Feldman Lighting company folded by the mid-1980s and its vintage fixtures are highly valued by interior designers and collectors today.

- Batwing Brass Chiavari Chair Gothic Green Velvet 1960sBy ChiavariLocated in Melbourne, AUA splendid brass example of the Chiavari style first developed in the coastal town of Chiavari, south of Milan, Italy. This particular specimen is in excellent condition, with a lovely recent restoration of the upholstery, well cushioned, in a tasteful dark green velvet. The chair is in very sound condition and is of a higher quality than others we have handled - notably the shaping of the feet and the back are particularly fine. The original Chiavari chair is a delicate-boned creature in light-weight timber, designed to be both light and strong. It’s turned timber frame gave the opportunity for elaborate decoration which was popular in the mid to late 1800s. The brass version was created in the 1950s as a playful reference to the original, the brass emphasising the elaborate framework. It’s intended as a decorative chair for hallways, as a bedside chair, or can be used as a feature chair...Category

The expressionist impasto paint application is fascinating. Clearly the work of a competent colourist. It really evokes the texture of Ranunculas flowers, their weight and the vibrancy of their colour. Unsigned, dating from the 1960s. The style is Expressionist. It reminds us of the work of William Dobell...Category

- Fratelli Reguitti Valet Stand in the Style of Parisi 1960s Mahogany BeechBy Ico & Luisa ParisiLocated in Melbourne, AUThis Fratelli Reguitti X-form valet, in the style of Ico and Luisa Parisi, is in exceptionally good condition. It features a lovely, rich mahogany stained beech timber frame, brass hardware and rubber wheels. The whole unit is tight and solid, with fine surfaces and in excellent working condition. There are some signs of age of course. The shoe rails have lost their brass plating. Charmingly, a little remains as a hint of the previously flashy appearance. There are a few very minor dings and scuffs on the timber surfaces. There's a little wear to the finish on the shoulder ends of the hanger. A very minor bruise in the ridges of timber that run across the top of the stand, we carefully sanded the inside of the ridges to smooth away any uneven surface so that fabric will not catch. The pull-out tie and belt holders...Category
