About the Item
A Gilt Bronze sculpture of a abstract creature by sculptor Antoine Poncet. This piece is labeled AP 3/6 on the underside. (Picture 10)
Poncet is a Swiss artist born in 1928, Son of the Swiss glass painter Marcel Poncet, and he discovered his fascination for sculptures at 14 initially with Reymond in Lausanne, then Germaine Richier in Zürich. Antoine was a student at Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Lausanne from 1942 to 1945 and in 1948 he returned to Paris were he settled. He had his first solo exhibit in 1956 at the Galerie Iris Clert in Paris. After participating in numerous shows and exhibits he now is a member of the Acadamy of Fine Arts and was president in 2009.
