Angelo Mangiarotti, Cap53 Bronze Vessel, Fonderia Battaglia for Bernini, 1960s

About the Item

Sculptural bronze vessel, designed by Angelo Mangiarotti as part of his Cap53 series of sculptural vessels and made at Fonderia Battaglia early 1960s for Bernini, Milan Cast bronze with verdigris patinated exterior and polished interior. Internal terracotta holder for flower stems. Stamped MANGIAROTTI to the base. 15cm high, 20cm diameter. In the early 1960s Mangiarotti designed the Cap53 vase series made in fused and turned bronze. Each piece is a unique handcrafted cast. More than functional objects, they are pure abstract sculptures.
