Logic Series Statement:
Growing up, I was always fascinated with how things fit together, constantly playing with puzzles and gadgets my family offered me. Whether it was a walkman or some brain teaser, I was amazed with discovering how things functioned and were constructed. Instinctively, I carried this approach over to glass as I was first drawn toward making work with color applications involving various components. The Logic Series evolved from these pieces as I tried to examine them from a larger perspective. Rather than make pieces with various color components, why not make pieces that are components unto themselves, parts that can fit together to create larger arrangements. Over the past few years, I’ve experimented with adding color to the structures, moving away from the original monotone sets. While still minimal, the color is used as a strategic element, contrasting vibrant, transparent hues against the opal white tones usually associated with the work. Hopefully, what results are glass structures, puzzles if you will, that both examine and Challenge the relationship of glass forms.

furthurdesign
FurthurDesign is a line of modern glass objects and lighting handmade by William Couig in Brooklyn, NY. The work has an aesthetic steeped in the 70's vision of future that William was raised on in film and popular culture. Created using traditional Venetian techniques, the FurthurDesign line utilizes the natural attributes and tendencies of glass to create logical design concepts. While each grouping has machine-made qualities, they have distinctly hand blown features and an organic appeal.
