About the Item
Superb wolf sculpture in bronze and marble flooring simulating snow by the artist Charles Valton. The wolf dutifully follows an adventurer whose steps are carved into the snow. A beautifully executed work with exquisite detailing and patina on the bronze and on the marble making the snow seem fouled. French work, 19th century.
The marble is signed by the artist and the bronze base bears the Collet / Collin foundry mark.
Very good condition.
